Description

Dental phobia is more common than many people realise and here at Cape Road Dental and Implant Centre, we meet lots of people who feel anxious about dental treatment.

If you have dental phobia, rest assured that you’re certainly not alone. We want to make your experience with us as calm and comfortable as possible. Our team members are understanding and compassionate, and will help you through visits or treatments, letting you take things at your own pace. We can also help soothe your anxiety with sedative medication, carried out by our qualified anaesthetist Dr Simon Smart.

We provide two different levels of sedation depending on your specific needs: intravenous (IV) sedation and general anaesthesia.

IV sedation

IV sedation is administered into your vein for differing levels of sedation. This type of sedation will put you in a dream-like state and you will feel relaxed throughout the procedure. You will be fully conscious but you may not remember much about your treatment.

General anaesthesia

With this type of sedation, you’ll be totally unconscious during your dental procedure. It’s carried out in a hospital setting and you’ll be discharged within two hours. There are risks involved with general anaesthesia, so we only really use it as a last resort.

Safety and security – you’ll be in the expert hands of qualified anaesthetist Simon Smart, who will carefully monitor the whole process and make sure you’re feeling comfortable throughout your treatment.

Anxiety-free smiles – with sedation, you won’t have any of the worries you might normally experience during dental treatment. You can just relax and look forward to seeing your new smile!

Save yourself time – In most cases we can complete several stages of treatment in a single session when sedation is used.

No more discomfort – you’ll feel calm and comfortable at all times, even during long procedures!

It’s important to note that we’ll have a full consultation with you before your procedure to make sure the type of sedation you choose is appropriate for your needs.
